My master's research focused on the relationship between prey-body size and macronutrient composition. Specifically, how body size can or cannot be a predictor of macronutrient proportions in Eastern African mammals and how this could impact hominin dietary reconstructions.

My dissertation research is aimed at quantifying the nutritional composition of contemporary eastern African mammalian carcasses and other available resources to build empirical models of early hominin diet and foraging behavior. By documenting seasonal variation in fat and protein availability across a range of resources in the eastern African savannah, including wild ungulate carcasses at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, I aim to address how macronutrient constraints shaped key behavioral and anatomical adaptations in our genus, including the avoidance of protein toxicity, decisions around hunting versus scavenging, and the evolution of larger brains. This work will provide the first direct, seasonally-resolved macronutrient dataset from an eastern African savannah ecosystem, offering a more precise empirical foundation for understanding the dietary transitions that define human evolution.
